Future Monash Engineering research students
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and New Zealand citizens are eligible to apply for living allowance scholarships as they are not required to pay fees under the Research Training Scheme (RTS).
International students are eligible to apply for tuition fee and living allowance scholarships. There are three categories of scholarships available:
- Scholarships managed by the Monash Institute of Graduate Research (MIGR)
- Scholarships awarded by the Faculty of Engineering
- Externally funded scholarships

1. Scholarships managed by the Monash Institute of Graduate Research (MIGR)
The Monash Institute of Graduate Research manages two scholarship rounds each year. The deadline for online applications is May 31 and October 31 each year. No late applications will be considered.
Each year, MIGR awards approximately 400 living allowance scholarships and 90 tuition fee scholarships. A summary of the range of scholarships available is shown below:

2. Scholarships awarded by the Faculty of Engineering
The number of scholarships available varies each year. Most scholarships are awarded concurrently with those managed by MIGR and no separate application form is required. The Faculty will consider high calibre applications at any time of the year.
Academic staff within the Faculty of Engineering may also have funds available to support scholarships for higher degree by research students to undertake industry-oriented research projects.

3. Externally funded scholarships
Other awards are available through schemes sponsored by the Australian government eg AusAID, by individual countries and by a range of organisations and donors. The Joint Academic Scholarship On-Line Network (JASON) , is a useful resource.
